Details: At his residence in Mar-a-Lago, Trump took phone calls from children who were asking about Santa Claus's whereabouts.
During the event, Trump said he could do this "all day long".
"We have to get back to China, Russia, Ukraine. We have to get back to other things, but this… You could do this all day long," Trump said.
The NORAD Tracks Santa programme has been running in the United States since 1955. On Christmas Eve, the joint command publishes Santa Claus's route as he leaves the North Pole and delivers presents to children around the world.
Command staff brief the US president on Santa's movements, and he then informs children.
Background:
- Trump also told children during the calls that before letting Santa into the United States, authorities had first checked him for reliability.
- Earlier, Trump announced the construction of next-generation vessels for the United States Navy, with the class to be named after him.
