Trump and Zelenskyy to meet on 28 December if everything goes as planned – Kyiv Post

There have been media reports that a meeting between US President Donald Trump and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy may take place on Sunday 28 December.
Source: the Kyiv Post, a Ukrainian English-language newspaper, citing an unnamed source, as reported by European Pravda
Details: Diplomatic sources told the newspaper that a potential venue for the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting could be the US president's Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.
The visit could take place as early as 28 December, "if everything goes according to plan," a Kyiv Post source said.
In the context of the "peace plan", a Western senior official involved in coordinating US and European efforts told the Kyiv Post that there is currently an atmosphere of "cautious intrigue" following recent high-level meetings between representatives of the Trump administration in Miami and Florida.
Quote: "The level of specificity is higher than we've seen before. But the hardest parts – security guarantees, enforcement, and Russia's legal commitments – are still very much unresolved."
Background:
- Zelenskyy previously said that a meeting with Trump had been agreed for the near future.
- On 24 December, the president of Ukraine revealed for the first time the contents of a 20-point "peace plan" agreed with the US. He also emphasised that Ukraine is not accepting a demand to renounce NATO membership that had been in the Trump team's initial 28-point plan.
- Signals have come from Moscow that Russia will demand significant changes to the draft "peace plan" agreed between Ukraine and the US.
