Quote: "The wounded soldier was injured by a drone-dropped munition and was located at an infantry position. He was unable to move independently. The route to the position ran through territory full of enemies. A decision was made to carry out the evacuation using a ground robotic system."
Details: The battalion noted that the total planned route length was 58 km – 29 km each way. After the wounded soldier was put on board, the ground robotic system detected a Russian drone, and a decision was taken to continue moving as quickly as possible.
"After four kilometres, on the second attempt, the ground robotic system was hit by an enemy FPV drone. The wounded soldier was evacuated by an adjacent unit and provided with the necessary medical assistance. He did not sustain additional injuries thanks to being inside the armoured capsule. He is currently continuing treatment at the next stage," the unit added.
The battalion also said the mission lasted 3 hours and 25 minutes. The average speed of the ground robotic system during the operation was 18 km/h, with a maximum speed of 38 km/h. The damaged robotic system was also successfully recovered. In addition, the military published a video interview with the wounded defender recorded several days after the evacuation.
"The wounded soldier was saved by the armoured capsule, which we always use during evacuations. It is impossible to predict every situation that may arise during an operation, but we must do everything possible to protect the wounded person inside the ground robotic system," the 1st Separate Medical Battalion emphasised.
Background: Earlier, the military demonstrated the operation of the Maul ground robotic system, which is used to evacuate wounded personnel in the unmanned systems company of the 1st Separate Medical Battalion.
