Kremlin announces new phone call between Trump and Putin

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has announced that a conversation between US President Donald Trump and Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin will take place in the near future.

Details: As previously reported, Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Trump met in Florida the day before for peace talks, with Trump warning immediately afterwards that he would call Putin following the meeting.

Accordingly, on Monday 29 December, Peskov announced another conversation between Putin and Trump.

"The call with Trump will take place in the near future," he said.

Background:

• It should be noted that Trump has said that the Kremlin leader supposedly wants to see Ukraine succeed and would help with reconstruction.
• Zelenskyy later stated, however, that Ukraine is primarily interested in Russia returning the money – and that these should be reparations.
