A strength of 800,000 personnel in the Armed Forces of Ukraine would guarantee the country's ability to repel renewed Russian armed aggression if it were to occur.

Quote: "This number really guarantees our ability to repel armed aggression if it is resumed. It also ensures a planned and sustainable mobilisation process. In other words, it does not restrict mobilisation in any way. All our mobilisation indicators and capabilities are preserved.

Initially, we were offered a reduction in the number of personnel to 600,000, but a force of 800,000 fully meets our needs."

Details: Syrskyi also commented on another issue raised in the talks, namely the potential withdrawal of troops from Donetsk Oblast and several other regions.

Quote: "We are military professionals and our main task is to defend the country. That is why our military representatives, first and foremost the Chief of the General Staff, are involved in these talks. The overall process is overseen by the leadership of our state.

I believe these issues will be raised and discussed more than once. Decisions will be taken on a well-considered basis. This is just one of the possible options."
