Russians attack ports of Pivdennyi and Chornomorsk, damaging oil storage tanks and vessel

Russia has attacked port infrastructure in Odesa Oblast, with damage recorded at facilities in the ports of Pivdennyi and Chornomorsk.

Details: Early reports indicate that one person was injured. Emergency services are working at the scene, and the aftermath of the attack is being dealt with.

"Storage tanks for vegetable oil belonging to one of the industrial companies were damaged. A civilian grain vessel flying the Panama flag, which was in the port at the time, also sustained damage," Kuleba said.

He added that despite the attack, seaports continue to operate in compliance with safety requirements.

Background:

  • On the night of 24-25 December, Russian forces again attacked port infrastructure in Odesa Oblast, including facilities in Chornomorsk and at one of the port terminals.
  • On the same night, Russia struck the Illichivsk oil and fats plant in the city of Chornomorsk, which is owned by the company Kernel.
