US troops in Ukraine as security guarantee is discussed, Zelenskyy says
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has commented on remarks by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk suggesting the United States could deploy troops to Ukraine as part of security guarantees after a peace deal is reached.

Details: Zelenskyy did not confirm US readiness for such a step, saying only American officials should speak publicly about it.
Quote: "To be honest, this can be confirmed by the president of the United States of America. These are United States troops, so it is America that makes such decisions."

Quote: "Of course, we are discussing this both with President Trump and with representatives of the Coalition (of the Willing). We would like this. It would be a strong position in security guarantees."
Background:
- Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said on 30 December that the United States has agreed, as part of security guarantees for Ukraine after a peace deal is reached, to deploy its troops to the Russian-Ukrainian border or the line of contact.
