Zelenskyy: It would be desirable for Trump to fly to Ukraine by plane
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that a visit by US President Donald Trump to Ukraine would be useful, especially if the White House leader were to fly directly to Ukraine.

Details: Zelenskyy was commenting on messages from the US president that he would be ready to address the Ukrainian parliament and to be in Ukraine.
"I think this would be useful – if President Trump is able to come. He is talking about advocating a plan to end the war. I told him that we would be happy to welcome him," Zelenskyy said.
He added that it would be "desirable" for the US president to arrive by plane not in Poland, but directly in Ukraine.
"Because if President Trump, the President of the United States of America, flies to Ukraine – and preferably flies directly to Ukraine rather than to Poland and then travels by train – this would signal that we can definitely count on a ceasefire," Zelenskyy said.
He stressed that "we are ready for President Trump's visit at any moment when he is ready, when all the necessary conditions are in place, including security conditions".
Background:
- As is known, since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022, Ukraine's airspace has been closed, and all foreign leaders who have visited Ukraine over the past four years have arrived by land via Poland.
- US President Donald Trump said on 28 December that he had no plans to visit Ukraine but did not rule it out if it would help achieve a peace agreement.
