Ukraine's chief negotiator expects representatives from over 10 countries at first partner meeting of new year

Rustem Umierov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council, has briefed the Ukrainian president on the results of a phone call with American and European partners.

Details: Umierov said that the US side was represented in the call by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner. The European side included national security advisers from the United Kingdom, Germany and France.
Quote: "We coordinated positions and planned further meetings with European and American partners in January. Separately, we are preparing a meeting with European partners on 3 January at the level of national security advisers.
Representatives from over 10 countries are expected to take part, along with NATO, the European Commission and the European Council. US partners are also expected to join online."
More details: Umierov added that work would continue in the new year on "decisions that should deliver tangible results".
Background:
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing at the level of advisers is scheduled to take place in Ukraine on 3 January, with a leaders' meeting in France planned for 6 January.
- After the leaders' meeting of the Coalition of the Willing in France on 6 January, another adviser-level meeting is planned, after which preparations will begin for a meeting of European leaders and the US president.
- Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that some of the documents aimed at settling the war, developed during the negotiation process, will be ready to sign in January.
