Zelenskyy announces replacement of Head of State Border Guard Service

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced that in the near future, the Minister of Internal Affairs will present candidates to replace the Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, while Lieutenant General Serhii Deineko will continue working within the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Details: Zelenskyy stated that under Deineko's leadership, the State Border Guard Service has undergone a period of development and strengthening over more than six years.
Border guard units are fighting on the front line alongside other components of Ukraine's Defence and Security Forces and have also significantly reinforced the protection of the border with Belarus and Russia.
Meanwhile, Zelenskyy noted that there are tasks related to changing approaches in the work of the State Border Guard Service, which he discussed with Deineko.
Quote: "I discussed this with Serhii as well. In the near future, Minister Klymenko will propose candidates to replace the Head of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, and Serhii Deineko will continue his work within the system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine."
Background: On 2 January, Zelenskyy appointed Kyrylo Budanov, Chief of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine, as Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine.
