Russia is also deliberately disabling energy infrastructure in the occupied territory and testing the connection of the ZNPP to its own energy system amid hostilities and occupation."
Background:
- On 28 December, it was reported that repair works had begun on a power transmission line near the ZNPP following another local ceasefire between Ukraine and Russia, achieved with the mediation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
- On 6 December, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi reported that the ZNPP had temporarily lost all external power supply during the night, for the eleventh time since Russia's full-scale invasion.
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that there has been no consensus on the ZNPP in talks on a ceasefire in Russia's war against Ukraine, but if the plant remains under Russian control, it will not operate.
