Russian attacks leave consumers in Mykolaiv Oblast without power and damage Kherson power plant

Consumers have been left without electricity in Mykolaiv Oblast following overnight Russian attacks on energy infrastructure. The Russians have once again struck the Kherson combined heat and power plant.

Quote: "Overnight, the enemy once again carried out strikes on the energy infrastructure of Mykolaiv and Kherson oblasts. As a result, consumers in Mykolaiv Oblast have been left without power. In Kherson Oblast, the Kherson combined heat and power plant was attacked again.
Emergency repair works are ongoing, and power engineers are operating continuously to restore electricity supply as quickly as possible."
Details: Restoration works to stabilise electricity supply are continuing in Odesa and Kyiv oblasts after the previous Russian attack.
Quote: "Consumers in frontline and border regions across the country remain without power for a long period as a result of hostilities. The situation there is the most difficult, as restoration of electricity supply is complicated by constant fighting.
Details: "We thank our power engineers for their truly difficult work. The enemy can destroy equipment, but the strength of the energy system rests on people," the ministry added.
Background:
- The Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) has lost power from one of its high-voltage lines as a result of hostilities on the night of 2-3 January.
- On the night of 2-3 January, Russian forces conducted strikes on critical infrastructure in Mykolaiv Oblast.
- After the Russian attack on the Kherson combined heat and power plant on 28 December, nearly 12,000 people living in buildings supplied by the plant were left without heating.
