Ukraine's military commanders support Security Service head amid reports he could be removed

Military commanders and analysts have posted messages on social media on 3 January voicing support for Vasyl Maliuk, head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SSU), and opposing his removal from office.

Details: Those expressing their support include Colonel Denys "Redis" Prokopenko, commander of the Azov 1st Corps of the National Guard of Ukraine (NGU); Major General Mykhailo Drapatyi, Head of the Joint Forces; Robert "Magyar" Brovdi, Commander of Ukraine's Unmanned Systems Forces (USF); Andrii Biletskyi, Commander of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade; Colonel Ihor Obolenskyi, Commander of the 13th Operational Brigade Khartia; and DeepState, a Ukrainian group of military analysts.
The commanders share their experience of working with the SSU chief and say he is "in the right place".
Background: Ukrainska Pravda sources in the President's Office and the security sector reported earlier that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy intends to relieve Vasyl Maliuk of his duties as head of the SSU and is considering appointing him as head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine or as secretary of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine.
