Draft election bill to be developed by end of February

David Arakhamiia, Head of the Servant of the People parliamentary faction, has expressed hope that work on the text of a bill regulating elections under martial law can be completed by the end of February.
Source: Arakhamiia's comments to journalists following a meeting with national security advisers from partner states on Saturday.
Quote: "If we take an internal, desired deadline, we should finish by the end of February and have a draft that we can register and put to a vote."
Details: Arakhamiia noted that a working group on this issue was created only recently, and the work within this group may take quite a long time, because "everyone has an important opinion that needs to be taken into account."
He said that security advisers at the meeting asked about the possible timeframe for holding elections and a referendum.
"We count 90 days from the moment the draft is agreed upon. The approval of the draft itself may take any amount of time. We do not want to take this responsibility onto ourselves, because this is inter-factional work and there must be political consensus. From that point, there are another 90 days. If a ceasefire is ensured, this is potentially possible, but if that does not happen, then it will be necessary to discuss what comes next," Arakhamiia said.
Background: On 22 December, David Arakhamia reported that a working group is being formed in parliament to deal with the issue of presidential elections under martial law.
