The Ministry of Energy reported that emergency repair works have begun in areas where the security situation allows. During repair operations, a crew from Kharkivoblenergo, a regional electricity distribution operator in Kharkiv Oblast, came under attack by a Russian UAV. No one has sustained injuries.

"Consumers in frontline and border regions remain without power for prolonged periods due to hostilities.

The situation there is the most difficult, as the restoration of electricity supply is hindered by constant attacks," the ministry said.

Background:

  • Hourly power outage schedules and electricity consumption limits for industrial consumers will be applied in most regions of Ukraine on 5 January.
  • A man was killed in Russian attacks on Kyiv Oblast's Fastiv district. The Russian strike also left Slavutych without electricity and caused extensive damage.
