Updated: Later, Andrii Stasevskyi reported that power had been restored in the part of Zaporizhzhia Oblast under Ukrainian control.
The blackout lasted for around seven hours, from 22:00 to 05:00.
Quote from Stasevskyi: "Yesterday [7 January – ed.] at around 22:00, as a result of a large-scale enemy drone attack on energy infrastructure, Zaporizhzhia Oblast was completely cut off from power.
Repair work began immediately and continued throughout the night. Priority was given to restoring power to critical infrastructure facilities – in particular, heating and water supply. Thanks to pre-prepared response algorithms and the professionalism of Zaporizhzhiaoblenergo technicians, as of 05:00 – in less than seven hours – the work was completed and electricity supply to residents of Zaporizhzhia Oblast and the regional centre was fully restored."
Background: Russian forces attacked critical infrastructure in Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts on 7 January, where emergency power cuts were introduced.
