Details: Kuleba said that heating will be restored within the next 24 hours in some districts of Kyiv. Repairs will take longer in areas where the damage is more complex.

Quote: "This currently applies to about half of the capital's apartment blocks. In the other part of the city, heating is being supplied as normal."

More details: Kuleba added that Kyiv's medical facilities are being supplied with heat from mobile boiler units.

More than 1,200 invincibility centres have been set up in the capital to support residents.

Kuleba said that heating and water supplies have been fully restored in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, except in parts of the city of Kryvyi Rih where repairs are still ongoing.

Background:

  • Half of Kyiv's apartment buildings, almost 6,000, are currently without heat supply after critical infrastructure in the capital was damaged in a large-scale Russian attack.
  • Municipal workers have connected social facilities – in particular hospitals and maternity hospitals – to mobile boiler houses.
  • Kyiv Mayor Vitalii Klitschko has urged residents to leave the city if they have the option.
  • Kyiv City State Administration has said that draining water is a standard technical measure in sub-zero temperatures and does not mean a prolonged loss of heating.
