More details: Healey's visit came days after UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer pledged to send troops to Ukraine as part of a force organised by the Coalition of the Willing.

The size of the force has not been announced. Media reports suggested it could total 15,000 personnel, with half provided by the UK.

Background: The UK and France pledged in a declaration on 6 January 2026 to deploy troops in Ukraine if a peace agreement is reached.
