Emergency power cuts introduced in Kyiv

Emergency power cuts have been introduced in Kyiv on the orders of Ukrenergo, Ukraine's state-owned electricity transmission operator.

Quote from Kyiv City State Administration: "Water supply, heat supply and electric public transport systems have been halted."
Details: Energy workers are carrying out repair work.
Update: Later, Tymur Tkachenko, Head of Kyiv Oblast Military Administration, said that the outages were caused by an issue at one link in the power system.
He said that specialist employees had fixed it and the general power supply is being restored.
Quote from Tkachenko: "This will allow us to lift emergency outages and return to scheduled cuts. However, restrictions will remain where work is ongoing to deal with the aftermath of enemy attacks."
Background:
- Four people were killed in a Russian attack on the city of Kyiv. Disruptions to electricity and water supply have been recorded.
- As of the morning of 9 January, more than 500,000 consumers in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast were left without electricity after the Russian attack.
- Half of Kyiv's apartment buildings, almost 6,000, are currently without heat supply after critical infrastructure in the capital was damaged in a large-scale Russian attack.
