Quote: "Due to the attack, frost and grid overload, we are seeing a large number of localised faults that lead to prolonged power outages.

As of 17:00, we have over 200 reports about this."

Details: It is noted that 57 repair crews are working round the clock so Kyiv residents have electricity.

DTEK asked Kyiv residents to be understanding about the situation.

"Support energy workers and the energy system: when power returns, switch appliances on one by one so new outages do not occur due to grid overloads", the statement said.

Background:

  • As of 11 January, more than 1,000 buildings in Kyiv remain without heat.
  • Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko noted that the tentative date for improving the electricity supply situation in Kyiv is probably Thursday 15 January.
