Surface electric transport suspended in Kyiv

The operation of surface electric public transport on Kyiv's right (Western) bank has been temporarily suspended due to the aftermath of Russian attacks and the difficult situation in the energy system.

Quote: "Emergency power outages have been introduced and remain in effect in the city following another overnight attack. Buses are being deployed on replacement routes instead of surface electric transport."
Details: To maintain transport links on certain routes, replacement bus services have been organised.
In particular, buses are duplicating tram and trolleybus services on 41 routes. "Detailed route maps and timetables are available on the Kyivpastrans website. Once the energy system stabilises, transport services will be restored in stages," the statement said.
The operation of surface electric transport will be resumed gradually after the energy system stabilises.
Background:
- Emergency power outages are in effect in Kyiv, with around 500 buildings left without heating following another Russian attack.
- Consumers in the city of Kyiv as well as in Kyiv, Odesa, Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Donetsk, Chernihiv and Zaporizhzhia oblasts had been left without power as a result of Russian attacks as of the morning of 13 January.
- Emergency power outages were introduced in the capital and in the Bucha district of Kyiv Oblast on the morning of 13 January.
- A number of supermarkets in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast are reported to have suspended operations due to the power outages.
