Ukrainian Railways makes extra stop to help serviceman's 7-year-old daughter get to hospital in snowy weather

Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian Railways) agreed to allow a regional train from Khmelnytskyi to Kyiv to make an unscheduled stop so that a mother and her seven-year-old daughter, who is unable to walk independently, could reach the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in the capital.
Source: The girl's mother, Iryna Vlasenko, shared the story on Threads.
Details: Iryna contacted the railway company on 11 January, explaining that her seven-year-old daughter Vika urgently needed to travel to Kyiv for medical treatment.
Due to snow and icy conditions, no other public transport was running in the area, and Iryna and Vika had no way of getting to the departure station. Vika's father is missing in action, and there was no one who could drive them there.
Iryna wrote: "We need to catch train 7720 Khmelnytskyi–Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi on 12 January 2026. Unfortunately, we live in a village, and because of the frost and snowstorm, there is no one to take me and my daughter to the train.
Is it possible for train 7720 to make a stop at Korzhivtsi station in the Khmelnytskyi district? My daughter is bedridden. She is seven years old and the daughter of a missing serviceman."
The company agreed to add an extra stop at Korzhivtsi, a small station in the Khmelnytskyi district, so that the mother and child were able to reach Kyiv in time for Vika's appointment.
In addition to helping with the journey, members of the locomotive crew organised a collection, donating their own money to the family to go towards the cost of Vika's treatment.
Iryna later posted a message expressing her gratitude.
"Locomotive crew, you are wonderful people. I wish you good health and peaceful skies. And thank you so much to everyone on Threads," she wrote.
The Threads post received more than 16,000 likes and numerous comments thanking the railway workers.
In her description of the fundraising campaign for her daughter's treatment, Iryna explained that Vika had suffered an injury when she was in kindergarten. As a result of this, and after unsuccessful treatment, she developed osteomyelitis, an inflammation of bone tissue.
"My daughter needs medication every day and an expensive IV infusion every three months," Iryna wrote.
