Ukrainian railways makes extra stop so serviceman's 7-year-old daughter can reach hospital in bad weather

Ukrzaliznytsia (Ukrainian railways) has agreed to an unscheduled stop for regional train No. 7720 on the Khmelnytskyi–Kyiv route to help a mother and her seven-year-old daughter, who is unable to move independently, reach the Okhmatdyt children's hospital in the capital.

Details: The woman contacted railway workers on 11 January, explaining that her seven-year-old daughter Vika urgently needed to travel to Kyiv for treatment.
Due to snow and icy conditions, no other transportation was operating in the settlement, and the family was unable to reach the departure station. Vika's father went missing during combat operations, and there was no one to drive them.
"We need to catch train 7720 Khmelnytskyi–Kyiv-Pasazhyrskyi on 12 January 2026. Unfortunately, we live in a settlement, and because of the frost and snowstorm, there is no one to take my daughter and me to the train.
Is it possible for train 7720 to make a stop at Korzhivtsi station in the Khmelnytskyi district? My daughter is bedridden, seven years old, the daughter of a missing serviceman," the woman wrote.
The company agreed to add an extra stop at the small Korzhivtsi station in Khmelnytskyi district. As a result, the mother and child were able to reach Kyiv in time for treatment.
In addition to helping with the journey, members of the locomotive crew collected their own money and donated it to the family for the girl's treatment.
Iryna later posted a message of gratitude.
"Locomotive crew, you are wonderful people. I wish you strong health and a peaceful sky. And thank you so much to everyone on Threads," she wrote.
The Threads post received more than 16,000 likes and numerous comments thanking the railway workers.
In the description of the fundraising campaign for Vika's treatment, her mother explained that the girl sustained an injury in kindergarten. As a result of this and unsuccessful treatment, the child developed osteomyelitis (an inflammatory disease of bone tissue).
"My daughter needs medication every day and an expensive IV infusion once every three months," the mother wrote.
