Ukraine's parliament extends martial law for another 90 days

The Verkhovna Rada (Ukrainian parliament) has approved a bill extending martial law in Ukraine, which was submitted by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Details: The bill was supported by 330 MPs.

Under the legislation, martial law in Ukraine will be extended for an additional 90 days, commencing on 3 February 2026.

Background: President Zelenskyy has repeatedly stressed that the war with Russia will not end until Ukraine receives effective security guarantees and that martial law cannot be lifted before that point.
