"Moscow knows no limits in its genocidal goal of depriving Ukrainians of power amid freezing winter," he tweeted.

Ukraine is passing relevant intelligence to its partners and warning of potentially catastrophic repercussions, Sybiha said.

Quote: "It is high time for the world, including the IAEA and major global powers that value nuclear safety, to speak up and issue clear warnings to Moscow and force it to abandon such reckless plans."

Background:

  • Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported earlier on Saturday that Russia is considering attacks on substations linked to Ukraine's nuclear power plants in a bid to force Ukraine to agree to unacceptable demands.
  • President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said, following a meeting with Oleh Ivashchenko, Head of Defence Intelligence of Ukraine (DIU), that Russia is preparing further strikes on Ukraine's energy system and infrastructure, including facilities that service nuclear power plants.
