Zelenskyy and Ukraine's chief negotiator outline results of Ukrainian delegation's work in US

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukrainian representatives in the United States are working on documents needed to bring the war to an end, following a briefing from Rustem Umierov, Secretary of the National Security and Defence Council (NSDC).

Quote from Zelenskyy: "Today, I also received briefings from our delegation in the United States: Rustem Umierov reported on meetings with envoys of President Trump. Several rounds of talks have already taken place. Work is underway on documents needed to end the war.

And it is important that Ukraine's team is fully informing the American side about what is happening in Ukraine and about Russia's constant strikes on our energy system."

Details: Umierov said that he had spent two days working in the US together with Kyrylo Budanov, Head of the Office of the President, and Davyd Arakhamiia, leader of the Servant of the People party. On the US side, the consultations involved US President Donald Trump's envoys Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner, US Secretary of the Army Daniel Driscoll and White House official Josh Gruenbaum.

Quote from Umierov: "We had substantive discussions on economic development and prosperity plan as well as security guarantees for Ukraine, with a focus on practical mechanisms for their implementation and enforcement.

We informed our American partners about recent attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure by Russia.

We agreed to continue the work at the team level during the next stage of consultations in Davos."

On Saturday 17 January, a Ukrainian delegation consisting of Umierov, Budanov and Arakhamiia arrived in the United States for a meeting with the US negotiation team..
It was reported that the purpose of the Ukrainian team's visit to Florida is to finalise arrangements with American partners on security guarantees and Ukraine's economic prosperity.
In his address on 17 January, Zelenskyy said the primary task of the Ukrainian delegation visiting the US is to provide a full and accurate picture of events and the damage caused by Russian strikes.
