New leaders appointed at Ukraine's Energy Ministry, some moving from Defence Ministry

Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has appointed a new state secretary of the Ministry of Energy, as well as two deputy ministers.

Details: Maksym Malashkin, who previously held the same post at the Ministry of Defence, has been appointed state secretary.

In addition, two deputy ministers have been appointed to serve under Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal – Valentyna Moskalenko and Anatolii Kutsevol. Kutsevol was previously the deputy defence minister for European integration.
Background:
- On 13 January, the Ukrainian Parliament voted to relieve Denys Shmyhal of his post as defence minister.
- On 14 January, the Ukrainian Parliament voted in favour of appointing Denys Shmyhal as first deputy prime minister and energy minister on the second attempt.
