Details: Kuleba also noted that 5,635 buildings in Kyiv remain without heating – around 46% of the capital's housing stock. A total of 12 buildings have been without heat since 9 January due to the direct aftermath of the attacks, the minister said.

"To speed up the work, 40 emergency repair teams from Ukrzaliznytsia [Ukraine's state-run railways operator – ed.] and 20 teams from other regions of Ukraine have been deployed. They are working around the clock together with municipal services," he added.

Background:

  • Following a Russian large-scale attack, power and water supply disruptions have been recorded in Kyiv, with the left bank left without electricity.
  • Earlier, it was reported that 5,635 multi-storey residential buildings in Kyiv were left without heating as a result of the Russian attack on the night of 19-20 January. The left bank of the city was also left without water.
  • After the Russian strike, the most difficult situation is currently in Kyiv, where a significant number of residential buildings remain without heating.
  • Following another Russian attack on Kyiv, power engineers have already restored electricity to 162,000 homes, but 173,000 households remain temporarily without power.
