Netherlands to allocate additional €23m for Ukraine's energy sector

The Netherlands has announced that it will be allocating an additional €23 million to support Ukraine's energy sector.

Details: Svyrydenko said the money will be used to fund gas purchases, urgent repairs to power plants, and deliveries of vital energy equipment, including generators and cables, from Dutch companies.

Background:

  • It was reported on 13 January that Ukraine and the United Nations would be appealing to donor countries to provide additional funding for humanitarian aid in response to the crisis caused by Russian attacks on civilian infrastructure.
  • The biggest donors to Ukraine's humanitarian response plan in 2025 were the European Commission with US$249.8 million, Norway with US$179.1 million, Germany with US$170.3 million, the US with US$148.6 million, the UK with US$103.6 million, Switzerland with US$65.6 million, Italy with US$53.6 million, South Korea with US$49.5 million, Denmark with US$37.2 million, and France with US$28.7 million.
