The Ukrainian electronic warfare system Kvazar 3M, developed by TAF Industries, has passed testing by Ukraine's Ministry of Defence and has been approved for operation on armoured vehicles.

Details: During testing, the system was checked on various types of vehicles and in several stages. In February, the first field trials were conducted on Gyurza and MaxxPro armoured vehicles, taking into account feedback from crews.

In August, an official testing phase took place with the participation of military representatives, during which areas for further refinement were identified.

The final testing stage was carried out in November on the Novator armoured vehicle provided by marines.

Quote: "We did not just improve the system, we tempered it in real combat conditions together with the military and equipment manufacturers."

Details: Based on the test results, the system has confirmed its compliance with tactical and technical requirements.

The manufacturer notes that the Kvazar 3M features a shock-resistant aluminium casing resistant to vibration, as well as protection against overheating, breaks in the feeder line, and incorrect antenna connection. A feeder line is a cable or system of cables through which a signal is transmitted from a transmitter or receiver to an antenna.

The manufacturer explains that five-metre cables make it possible to position antennas taking into account the design of armoured vehicles, including vehicles with a rotating turret.

After passing the tests, electronic warfare systems of this type can be officially procured and installed on civilian vehicles, as well as on light and medium armoured equipment under state contracts of the Ministry of Defence.

The Kvazar 3M operates in the 120-5850 MHz range and can cover up to 19 frequency bands depending on the configuration. The system supports various types of antennas, is powered by a battery, a 220V network, or the vehicle's onboard power supply, and provides 1.5-2 hours of autonomous operation.

Background:

  • Last year, TAF Industries presented an updated Kvazar electronic warfare product line capable of jamming unmanned aerial vehicles at various frequencies at distances of up to 250-300 metres. It includes the short-range Kvazar A and Kvazar 3M systems, as well as auxiliary solutions such as the TL Spectrum analyser and a video signal detector, which allow operators to monitor electronic warfare effectiveness and detect non-standard threats.
  • The Kvazar A creates a five-channel field of active interference, suppressing UAV control channels and real-time video transmission. It operates in rain, dust, and freezing conditions, has IP66 protection, and offers up to two hours of autonomy.
