Half of Kyiv's apartment blocks left without heating after Russian attack

Nearly 6,000 buildings in Kyiv are once again left without heating, following a large-scale Russian attack and damage to critical infrastructure.

Details: Most of these are buildings that had already been reconnected, or attempts had been made to reconnect them to the heat supply, after the attacks on 9 and 20 January.

There are also problems with the water supply on the left bank of the city and partially on the right bank.

Background:

  • Consumers were left without power in Kyiv and Kyiv Oblast, Chernihiv Oblast and Kharkiv Oblast as a result of a new large-scale Russian attack on energy infrastructure on 24 January.
  • On 9 January, half of Kyiv's apartment buildings – almost 6,000 – were left without heating due to damage to the capital's critical infrastructure caused by a large-scale Russian attack.
