Details: Sybiha highlighted the Dárek pro Putina (Gift for Putin) initiative, which has raised over US$3.8 million in just a few days after launching a campaign to purchase generators and batteries for Kyiv. The organisers reported on Saturday that CZK 80 million had already been donated.
In addition, 49 generators of various capacities that have been collected with the support of the Czech civic organisation Post Bellum will be delivered to Kharkiv next week.
On Sunday, 40 battery power stations and 1,500 extension cords for invincibility centres will be delivered to Kyiv Oblast thanks to assistance from the Central Bohemian Region of Czechia. [Invincibility centres are heated premises stocked with food and power banks to assist residents facing hardships due to power cuts – ed.]
Some of the funding will also be allocated to Kyiv's police to strengthen cybersecurity.
"This is an example of true solidarity. Czechia is demonstrating that support for Ukraine is not just words, but concrete actions that save lives and strengthen our resilience," Sybiha wrote.
Background:
- In Poland, the Warmth from Poland fundraiser raised PLN 5 million (US$1.4 million) in support of Kyiv in just six days. The first batch of generators are already on their way to Kyiv.
- On Friday, the European Commission announced that it would be sending 447 backup generators to Ukraine.
