Details: The disruption affects airline websites, call centres and ticket offices, leaving Russians unable to buy, exchange or refund tickets.
Automatic passenger and baggage check-in has also stopped working, as many airports moved to manual processing. Airlines warn this could lead to delays, rescheduled flights or cancellations.
Rostech, a Russian state-owned defence and technology group, said the failure is linked to network infrastructure disruptions and problems on the side of the Sirena-Travel provider, a Russian Global Distribution System (GDS) and technology provider for the travel industry.
ATOR said the outage could affect the plans of more than 20,000 passengers.
Background:
- Russian airlines are recommissioning Tu, Il, An and Boeing planes in 2026 due to a shortage of aircraft in civil aviation.
- Ten incidents related to engine failures and malfunctions were recorded in Russia between 10 December and 16 December 2025.
