Quote: "I held a coordination call on the situation in the regions and communities. The Ministry of Defence of Ukraine, the Air Force Command, and regional authorities are analysing the circumstances of the strike on Odesa – there were 52 Russian drones in total, and a significant number were targeting the central part of Odesa near the Pryvoz market.
Most of the drones were intercepted, but sadly there were also hits in the city and the region. A search and rescue operation is currently underway, rubble is being cleared, and all necessary forces are engaged."
Details: Zelenskyy said there were also briefings on the situation in Kharkiv and Kharkiv Oblast after a Russian MLRS strike. "An energy facility was hit, resulting in significant damage. Repair work is ongoing without interruption," he said.
The coordination call also focused separately on Kyiv. "As of this morning, 926 buildings in several districts on the left bank of the capital are still without heating. The Ministry of Energy and the Ministry of Internal Affairs are deploying additional generators. Reserves from across Ukraine have been deployed to support the capital," Zelenskyy said.
He added that there were also briefings on the situation in Kyiv Oblast and Zaporizhzhia. "It is important that the entire country is now united to stabilise the situation and ensure the resilience of our state," the president said.
Background: On the night of 26-27 January, Russian forces attacked with 165 Shahed-type attack UAVs, including jet-powered ones, as well as Gerbera, Italmas and other types of drones, with around 100 of them being Shaheds.
