Details: Ushakov said that Putin has repeatedly stated, "If Zelenskyy is truly ready for a meeting, then we, of course, invite him to Moscow".

Ushakov also promised Zelenskyy security guarantees if the Ukrainian president visits Moscow.

He noted that the possibility of a meeting between Putin and Zelenskyy had been discussed several times during phone calls between US President Donald Trump and the Russian leader.

Quote: "And during these conversations, Trump, in particular, suggested that we consider this possibility."

Details: Prior to this, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha told European Pravda that Zelenskyy is ready to meet Putin in person to settle two key issues in peace talks – territories and future control of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant.

Background:

  • In September 2025, Putin made it clear that he would not travel elsewhere to hold talks with Zelenskyy but was ready to meet in Moscow.
  • Sybiha described Putin's proposal to meet with Zelenskyy in Moscow as "unacceptable".
  • Later, Zelenskyy said the invitation was a way for Putin to delay a meeting. "Our American partners have informed us that Putin has invited me to Moscow. I believe that if you want to prevent the meeting from taking place, you should invite me to Moscow," the Ukrainian president noted.
