Ukraine's National Bank improves its estimate of international reserves by US$13bn

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has projected that international reserves will increase to US$65 billion by the end of 2026, up from US$52.2 billion, and to US$72.9 billion in 2027, up from US$59.2 billion.

Details: "External assistance will make it possible both to finance the still high budget deficits caused by the war and to maintain a high level of reserves," the National Bank said.
The NBU recalled that the Council of the EU decided in late 2025 to provide Ukraine with €90bn in financial assistance in 2026-2027 (USL – Ukraine Support Loan).
Support for Ukraine will also continue under the existing ERA Loans mechanism.
Work is also underway to agree a new IMF programme worth US$8.1 billion.
Background: Ukraine's international reserves stood at US$57.29 billion as of 1 January 2026, the highest figure in the history of independent Ukraine.
