Details: The film tells the story of the small village of Andriivka, located 10 kilometres from the city of Bakhmut. Chernov, together with Oleksandr Babenko and the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, moves along the battlefield and films Ukrainian defenders as they attempt to liberate Andriivka.
Along with the Ukrainian film, the category also includes two other titles: Becoming Led Zeppelin and White with Fear.
The film has also been included in the nominees list for the 2025 Directors Guild of America Awards. It was previously selected for the Oscars shortlists but did not make the final nominations.
For reference: Fierce fighting took place in the village of Andriivka during Ukraine's 2023 counteroffensive.
The film documents how soldiers of the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade fought to liberate the village. The filmmakers recorded every step of the operation.
Chernov worked on the project with the FRONTLINE team and the Associated Press for nearly one and a half years. The team also included photographer Oleksandr Babenko and producers Michelle Mizner, who worked with Chernov on 20 Days in Mariupol and Raney Aronson-Rath.
