Details: Shmyhal said that as of 14:00, power supply to critical infrastructure facilities in Kyiv as well as Kyiv and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts had been restored.
He explained that the next stage is the gradual restoration of supply to consumers.
Shmyhal reported that electricity is being restored to people in Kharkiv, Zhytomyr and Odesa oblasts.
Quote: "The power system operates in a fully integrated manner. Dispatchers from Ukrenergo [Ukraine's state-owned electricity transmission operator] are monitoring the situation. Meanwhile, we continue to observe a significant capacity deficit. Emergency outages are still being applied in a number of oblasts.
Power engineers are working 24/7 to return heat and electricity to people."
Background:
- Ukrenergo reported earlier that emergency outages were in place in the city of Kyiv as well as Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernivtsi, Zhytomyr and Kharkiv oblasts.
- A major breakdown in Ukraine's power system has caused electricity to be cut off across large parts of the country.
