Russia attacks energy sector in eight oblasts of Ukraine

Russia launched an attack on eight oblasts of Ukraine on the night of 2-3 February, mainly targeting energy infrastructure.

Details: Shmyhal noted that hundreds of thousands of families have been left without heating in freezing cold weather following the strikes.

Background:

• The Darnytskyi and Dniprovskyi districts of Kyiv have been largely left without heating due to an overnight large-scale Russian attack on the capital's energy infrastructure.
• Emergency power outages were partially introduced after the large-scale Russian attack in the same districts of the capital, located on the left bank of the Dnipro River.
• As a result of the large-scale Russian attack on Kyiv on the night of 2-3 February, high-rise buildings were damaged in the capital, a kindergarten caught fire and three people were injured.
