Russia launched record guided aerial bomb attack: 316 dropped in one day
Russian forces dropped 316 guided aerial bombs on Ukraine on 18 January, marking the highest daily total since the start of the war.

Details: The ministry said that the total number of guided bombs dropped on Ukraine in January reached 5,700, setting a new monthly record in this war.
Quote: "Having made no significant gains on the ground, the enemy is intensifying strikes from the air. The previous monthly maximum was recorded in October 2025 – 5,300 bombs."
Details: The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that over 5,300 combat clashes were recorded in January. For comparison, more than 5,500 were recorded in December 2025.
In the first month of the year, Russian forces also carried out over 113,000 artillery attacks, including more than 2,400 from multiple launch rocket systems.
Background:
- On 19 January, Russian forces carried out three strikes using guided aerial bombs on the Slobidskyi district of Kharkiv, killing one person and injuring 11.
- The same day, a woman was killed, another man was injured, and residential buildings were damaged as a result of a Russian strike on Sloviansk in Donetsk Oblast using four guided aerial bombs.
