Quote: "Power engineers, utility services and railway workers are continuing to deal with the aftermath of large-scale attacks on energy infrastructure. In total, 217 Russian attacks on our energy sector have been recorded since the beginning of this year alone."
Details: Svyrydenko stressed that the government continues to provide comprehensive support during the emergency situation in the energy sector.
"Power engineers who recover our energy system around the clock will receive an additional payment of UAH 20,000 per month [about US$460 – ed.] for working in emergency teams," Svyrydenko said.
She promised that the first payments will be allocated to their bank accounts as soon as this month.
"Together with state-owned companies, we are providing targeted assistance to people with disabilities and pensioners who live alone," the prime minister said.
Svyrydenko reported that the first 10,000 warmth packages provided by the Naftogaz Group have been delivered to residents of Kyiv's Darnytskyi, Dniprovskyi and Desnianskyi districts, as well as to the towns of Brovary and Boryspil in Kyiv Oblast – all the districts and settlements that suffered the most during the latest Russian attacks. The packages contain items that help people get through the cold period, keep warm, be able to stay in touch and charge medical devices.
"We are expanding this support further and engaging other large state-owned companies: Energoatom, Ukrenergo and Ukrhydroenergo. They will provide additional warmth packages to hromadas across Ukraine where the situation with electricity and heating supply remains difficult," she said. [A hromada is an administrative unit designating a village, several villages, or a town, and their adjacent territories – ed.]
