Delegations reached an agreement under which the Russian Federation and Ukraine carried out mutual release of 157 prisoners of war each. This is the first exchange in the last five months.
Communiqué also says that over two days delegations held broad discussions of remaining unresolved issues, including methods for implementing ceasefire and monitoring cessation of hostilities.
Delegations agreed to inform their respective capitals and continue trilateral negotiations over the coming weeks. They expressed gratitude to the United Arab Emirates for organising talks.
It is separately added that Ukraine is grateful to US President Donald Trump for his leadership in advancing efforts aimed at ending war.
Background:
- The trilateral talks in the United Arab Emirates are taking place in the wake of a large-scale Russian strike on Ukraine. Following the latest attack, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said on Tuesday that the work of the Ukrainian negotiating team would be "adjusted".
- Meanwhile, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio noted good and bad news regarding the new round of talks.
