Trump calls talks on Ukraine "very good"

US President Donald Trump has said that talks on a peaceful settlement of Russia's war against Ukraine are making good progress.

Quote: "We have very good talks going with Russia and Ukraine. We're doing a lot of good talking. And I think we had the results today."

Details: In addition to Ukraine, Trump also said that there were "very good" talks under way with Iran.

He stressed that the US is holding extensive and constructive discussions with all parties involved.

Background:

• According to a communiqué on the outcome of the trilateral talks held in Abu Dhabi on 4-5 February, the US, Ukrainian and Russian delegations discussed methods for implementing a ceasefire and monitoring the cessation of hostilities.
• Following the Abu Dhabi talks, the US and Russia have agreed to resume high-level military dialogue.
• Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed that the next round of negotiations on ending the war in Ukraine will be held soon, but it will not take place in the US.
