Details: According to Mykhailo Lynetskyi, First Deputy Head of Kherson City Military Administration, Russian forces are deliberately targeting centralised water supply wells.
"Russian troops are deliberately attacking centralised water supply wells. The situation with heating is worse. Back in December last year, the Kherson Thermal Power Plant came under large-scale attack. At present, it is impossible to carry out repair works," Lynetskyi said on air of Suspilne. Studio.
In addition, Russian forces are targeting utility workers with drones and artillery and are attempting to strike boiler houses.
Lynetskyi says that electricity supply in the city and nearby settlements is currently being provided on a continuous basis.
Oleksandr Prokudin, Head of Kherson Oblast Military Administration, said that electricity supply has now been restored in 176 out of 228 settlements on the right bank. Power is available in almost all towns and villages where the security situation allows for it and where people remain.
Meanwhile, in some settlements near the Dnipro River that have long remained without electricity, repairs are impossible due to threats to utility workers, Vhoru writes.
Background:
- Six settlements in Kherson Oblast are in severe energy conditions due to constant drone strikes and, accordingly, extremely difficult circumstances for repairs.
- Since the beginning of February, the Russians have attacked the Kherson Thermal Power Plant (TPP) four times.
- Following the Russian attack on the Kherson TPP on 28 December, between 10,000 and 12,000 people were left without heating. They live in buildings heated by this TPP.
- On 28 December, Russian forces once again attacked the local TPP in Kherson with artillery, causing significant damage. The Russians attack the plant almost daily.
- Earlier, Russian forces struck a heat generation facility in Kherson, with possible disruptions to the heat supply to homes.
- It is currently impossible to restore the operation of the Kherson TPP due to constant drone attacks by Russian forces.
- The Kherson TPP has suspended operations. It was also reported that the authorities are providing residents with alternative means of heating.
