EU considers options for including Ukraine's membership in peace deal, Bloomberg says

Bloomberg has reported that the European Union is preparing several options for including EU membership for Ukraine in a future peace agreement.
Source: Bloomberg, citing sources familiar with the matter, as reported by European Pravda
Details: The sources said that "the options under consideration include providing Kyiv up front with the protection that comes with EU accession as well as immediate access to some membership rights".
Meanwhile, the EU would provide Ukraine with a clear timeline of the steps it must take to move the official process forward.
Other options being considered include continuing on the existing accession path or introducing a transitional period with gradual membership, the sources said.
A European Commission representative told Bloomberg that Ukraine's future accession to the EU is part of the peace agreement discussions.
Background:
- President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that Ukraine's accession to the European Union could be fast-tracked in a scenario whereby some of the required tasks would be completed after accession.
- Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said that Ukraine's accession to the EU in 2027 is not possible.
