Source: European Pravda, citing a statement by a senior NATO official who spoke to journalists ahead of a meeting of the Alliance's defence ministers
Details: The official shared intelligence data on the number of casualties on the front during Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
According to the official, there have been "1.3 million Russian casualties to date in the war, 400,000 of those in 2025". Thus, losses last year significantly exceeded those of previous years. It is noted that this figure includes both those killed and injured Russian soldiers who have been removed from combat operations.
NATO also disclosed the number of Russian soldiers killed.
"Russian total killed in action – 350,000," the Alliance representative stated.
Background:
- Five months ago, NATO cited Russian losses that were 200,000 lower.
- At that time, nearly a quarter of Russia's losses were reported as fatalities. Therefore, the ratio of casualties to fatalities, according to the Russian figures, remains unchanged.
- In July, the head of Estonia's military police said that Russia's human losses in its unprovoked war against Ukraine had already exceeded those of the Soviet-Finnish War.
