US to hold talks with Hungary and Slovakia on abandoning Russian gas – Rubio

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has announced that the United States will begin talks with Hungary and Slovakia on ending purchases of Russian energy resources.

Details: Rubio said that Washington plans to hold consultations with these countries and discuss the necessary steps to reduce dependence on Russian gas.

"We'll have those conversations with them. We'll talk to them about what needs to happen," the US Secretary of State stressed.

Meanwhile, Rubio did not specify details of the forthcoming meetings, but emphasised that Hungary and Slovakia are friendly states to the United States and support cooperation with Washington.
