Quote: "Several more cold days lie ahead, and everyone has already seen how the Russians exploit this. Please take care of yourselves and heed air-raid warnings. We are in constant contact with all partners, emphasising that each such threat, each such risk, only worsens the overall prospects for ending the war."
Background:
- During a significant drop in temperatures over recent weeks, Russia has carried out large-scale attacks on Ukraine's energy facilities, particularly those in Kyiv.
- Mayor Vitalii Klitschko said Kyiv has been on the brink of catastrophe over the past two months due to intensive Russian attacks.
- Snow, sleet and rain are forecast in several Ukrainian oblasts on Monday 16 February. Nighttime temperatures in Ukraine's west are expected to drop to -12°C, while in the east they will remain above zero overnight.
