Details: The head of the German company does not expect peace in Ukraine this year because the Russian Federation does not want to end the war.
"Right now we are producing more ammunition than we have contracts," Papperger said.
Papperger revealed that Rheinmetall could "deliver more anti-aircraft guns, more ammunition and even more tanks," but there is a lack of funding.
He announced plans to increase his company's workforce to 70,000 in the coming years.
He also expects that by the end of this year, the company's order book will amount to around €140 billion.
Background:
- On 10 February, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas said she would in the coming days propose for discussion among EU countries a list of concessions that should be demanded from Russia as part of a potential agreement to end the war.
- Kallas said earlier that the fact that Ukraine is under enormous pressure to make painful concessions is a problem and warned that this risks blurring the real issue: that Russia is responsible for the war.
