He said that Russian forces are trying to break through Ukrainian defences and are carrying out repeated attacks using weapons and military equipment, but without notable success.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian defence units are holding their positions, thwarting Russian plans and inflicting losses on personnel and equipment.

Quote: "I emphasised the primary priority: liberating territory is extremely important, but we must first and foremost protect the lives of our soldiers and maintain the combat readiness of our units.

I reminded commanders again that when assigning personnel to positions, their professional experience, qualifications and special skills gained in civilian life must be taken into account.

I thank every service member for their resilience, professionalism and dedication to Ukraine."

Background: DeepState, a Ukrainian group of military analysts, reported that Russian forces had advanced in two settlements in Donetsk and Zaporizhzhia oblasts.
