Finland to boost humanitarian aid to Ukraine and send 52 additional generators

Finland is set to increase humanitarian aid to Ukraine to €22 million and also send an additional 52 generators during February.

Quote from Kondratiuk: "The Government of Finland plans to additionally transfer 52 generators to Ukraine during February and increase humanitarian support to €22 million. We are grateful to Finland for this assistance and leadership in the Civil Protection Shelter Coalition."
Details: Kondratiuk added that Finland has extensive experience in civilian protection and has allocated €13.2 million to build the first of 10,000 planned shelters in Ukraine. She emphasised the importance of expanding this effort and involving more countries in the humanitarian initiative.
Orpo said Finland's government will continue providing military aid to Ukraine and will advocate for galvanising Ukraine's accession to the European Union.
Background:
- Last week, the Kyiv mayor reported that another shipment of 323 EU-provided generators arrived in the capital. Some of these were used to power heating substations in residential buildings.
- The first batch of 177 generators that arrived earlier has been directed to connect to individual heating substations in buildings where this is possible.
